Γεννήθηκε το 1962, στην Νέα Υερσέη, ΗΠΑ. Είναι Φαρμακοποιός ΕΚΠΑ (1984) και Διδάκτωρ Φαρμακευτικής (1988). Έκανε μεταδιδακτορική έρευνα στο Πανεπιστήμιο της Ν. Καλιφόρνιας (USC) των ΗΠΑ, καθώς και στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Λονδίνου (UCL- School of Pharmacy) στην Αγγλία.

Είναι Διευθύντρια του Εργαστηρίου Φαρμακευτικής Τεχνολογίας από το 2002, Συνεργαζόμενο Μέλος ΔΕΠ στο Ινστιτούτο Χημικής Μηχανικής του ITE (IEXMH/ΙΤΕ)  (http://www.iceht.forth.gr/about.html) από το 2006, Μέλος της Δευτεροβάθμιας Επιτροπής Κρίσης για χορήγηση άδειας κυκλοφορίας Φαρμάκων του ΕΟΦ από το 2012, Πρόεδρος της Επιτροπής βοηθών Φαρμακείου από το 2006, Συντονίστρια τμήματος για το πρόγραμμα κινητικότητας ERASMUS από το 1998, μέλος της Συντονιστικής Επιτροπής μεταπτυχιακού προγράμματος Φαρμακευτικής από το 1996-2018, και Πρόεδρος της ΟΜΕΑ τμήματος από το 2013. Είναι αναπληρωματικό μελος της Γενικής Συνέλευσης του ΕΛΙΔΕΚ (2018-2020) και μέλος της ομάδας εργασίας για την οργάνωση της αξιολόγησης προγραμμάτων. Έχει διατελέσει μέλος της Συγκλήτου του Πανεπιστημίου Πατρών (2004-2005), και μέλος πολυάριθμων Επιτροπών κρίσης Ερευνητικών και Εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων διαφόρων Ευρωπαϊκών Οργανισμών καθώς και της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής (FP6, FP7, Horizon, IMI) από το 2003 ως σημερα.

Το επιστημονικό της έργο εστιάζεται στην ανάπτυξη Προηγμένων και Καινοτόμων Νανομορφών χορήγησης Φαρμάκων (Νανοφαρμάκα / Nanomedicines). Έχει λάβει χρηματοδότηση από την ΕΕ (>2.5Μ€), και έχει εκπονήσει (ως συντονίστρια για το Παν. Πατρών) τρία μεγάλα ερευνητικά προγράμματα (Marie Curie, FP6 και FP7, για ανάπτυξη Στοχευμένων Νανομορφών Φαρμάκων) και αρκετά άλλα (χρηματοδοτούμενα από την ΕΕ και Βιομηχανίες). Επί του παρόντος συντονίζει ή συμμετέχει σε 6 Εθνικά ανταγωνιστικά Ερευνητικά προγράμματα (ΕΔΜΒ 34 και 103, Περιφερειας Δυτ. Ελλάδος, τρία ΕΔΚ) και συμμετέχει σε ένα Ευρωπαϊκό πρόγραμμα H2020. Έχει 6 ΔΕ ή αιτήσεις για ΔΕ. Έχει συγγράψει περισσότερα από 110 πρωτότυπα επιστημονικά άρθρα με τυφλή κρίση σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά, τα περισσότερα υψηλής απήχησης (μέσο IF>3.5 , h-index 31), 10 κεφάλαια σε επιστημονικά βιβλία ή συλλογικούς τόμους μετά από πρόσκληση, και έχει περισσότερες από 150 ομιλίες σε διεθνή επιστημονικά συνέδρια, συμπόσια ή εντατικά προγράμματα-workshops (> 65 ως προσκεκλημένη ομιλήτρια).

Διδάσκει Φαρμακευτική στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών από το 1989 ως λέκτορας, Επίκ. Καθηγήτρια (1993), Αναπλ. Καθηγήτρια (2002) και Καθηγήτρια (2010). Έχει διοργανώσει σειρά διεθνών εντατικών προγραμμάτων μεταπτυχιακής εκπαίδευσης (χρηματοδοτούμενα από προγράμματα ERASMUS και Marie Curie) σε θέματα ανάπτυξης καινοτόμων Φαρμάκων και Νανοφαρμάκων, και έχει διατελέσει πρόεδρος ή μέλος οργανωτικών ή ακαδημαϊκών επιτροπών 10 Διεθνών Επιστημονικών Συνεδρίων. Είναι (ή ήταν) μέλος Συντακτικών επιτροπών Διεθνών Επιστημονικών Περιοδικών (JBN – Editor Europe, Drug Delivery) και πολυάριθμων Επιστημονικών Συλλόγων (ΠΕΦ, CRS, APGI/APV, EUFEPS, ILS), ενώ έχει διατελέσει Πρόεδρος (CRS-Greek chapter [2003-4]) ή Μέλος Δ.Σ. Επιστημονικών Επιτροπών (EAPB [2004-5]) συλλόγων. Πρόσφατα εγκρίθηκε για χρηματοδόση το μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα Erasmus Mundus “Nanomedicines for Drug Delivery” (2017-2022) για το οποίο είναι Υπεύθυνη στο Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών.
